Weekend Workshop Skills Course

This is a 2 day course designed to hone your workshop skills. Over the course you will practise the basic skills of sawing, filing and soldering, and will create a lovely set of silver pieces including a ring, a bangle and pair of earrings or lapel pin. During this course you will get to practise some of the traditional silversmith techniques needed to create lovely silver jewellery. This course will give you a taste of working in a metal work shop, using traditional tools and techniques. A brilliant taster for anyone who is interested in the mechanics of metal work and create your own silver pieces. The course is delivered over two days, the dates on the booking calendar are for the Saturday but your booking is for both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday AM session - 10.30am - 1pm Saturday PM Session - 2pm - 4.30pm Sunday AM Session - 10.30am - 1pm Sunday PM Session - 2pm - 4.30pm During this course you will practise the following; Saturday AM – Basic skills session - Choose from a range of projects designed to practise sawing, filing and soldering. Become familiar with the tools and gain confidence in the workshop. This session is working with copper. Saturday PM – Silver ring – Create a silver ring, learn to measure, cut, form, solder, file and polish your own silver ring. This session is working with silver. Sunday AM – Silver earrings – Design and make your own pair of simple earrings, either stud / post earrings or dangles. I shall guide you on some lovely designs to choose from. This session is working with silver. Sunday PM – Silver Bangle – Using the skills you have learnt over the course, you will make a silver bangle to complete your jewellery set. This session is working with silver. Lots of copper to practise with is included, and enough silver to create your three pieces. More silver can be purchased on the day for larger projects, if suitable.
